Published in Acta Paediatrica and led by Professor Riittakerttu Kaltiala, the research followed more than 2,000 young people referred to gender identity programs, alongside over 16,000 matched controls, with follow-up extending up to 25 years. Among those who received medical interventions: - Psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7% in individuals undergoing feminising treatments. - It rose from 21.6% to 54.5% in those undergoing masculinising treatments.
