Leo XIV increases salaries for cardinals and senior Vatican officials. Today, Leo XIV has abolished the pay cuts introduced by Francis in 2021. Francis had ordered a 10% salary cut for cardinals working for the Holy See and an 8% reduction for senior officials and curial secretaries as the Vatican faced financial difficulties. Other clergy and religious employees initially faced a 3% cut, which was abolished in 2025. Leo XIV’s new motu proprio, effective September 1, abrogates the 2021 decree in its entirety. He claimed the measures had been necessary due to the “exceptional challenge of the pandemic,” but could now be superseded as the Holy See and Vatican City pursue economic sustainability “through different instruments.” #newsRxifznfisa
"Therefore, because I see and know all things, you might ask me why I do not take evildoers away before they fall into the depths of sin. I myself asked the question and I myself will answer it for you: I am the Creator of all things, and all things are foreknown to me. I know and see all that has been and all that will be. But, although I know and can do all things, still, for reasons of justice, I no more interfere with the natural constitution of the body than I do with the inclination of the soul. Each human being continues in existence according to the natural constitution of the body such as it is and was from all eternity in my foreknowledge. The fact that one person has a longer life and another a shorter has to do with natural strength or weakness and is related to a person's physical constitution. It is not due to my foreknowledge that one person loses his sight or another becomes lame or something like that, since my foreknowledge of all things is such that no one is the worse …Bontsi

The Son spoke to the bride, saying: ”When the devil tempts you, tell him these three things: 'The words of God cannot be anything but true.' Second: 'Nothing is impossible for God, because he can do all things.' Third: 'You, devil, could not give me so great a fervor of love as that which God gives me.' ” Again the Lord spoke to the bride, saying: ”I look at people in three ways: first, their outer body and what …Bontsi
Pope celebrates his 71st birthday but it’s Vatican employees who get the gift The Vatican published a papal decree repealing 2021 salary cuts that Pope Francis had imposed on many Vatican employees as part of the Holy See’s COVID-19 cost-saving measures. DRM News In the decree, Leo said the salary-containing measures “can now be overcome, in the certainty that the institutions of the Holy See and the Vatican City State will continue, through various means, their commitment to ensuring economic sustainability.” The unpopular salary cuts had included a 10% cut on pay for cardinals and smaller percentage salary cuts for office heads and lower-ranking priests and nuns. Biennial pay raises were frozen for senior lay employees, though lower-ranking lay employees continued to receive raises. Francis had reasoned at the time that the cuts were necessary to save jobs, given the Holy See was also facing a structural deficit, estimated then at around 70 million euros, and a 1 billion euro ($1.14 …Bontsi
AntwortpsalmPs 78 (77) Kv Vergesst die Taten Gottes nicht! – KvGL 623,6 1Lausche, mein Volk, meiner Weisung! – Kv
Leo XIV has Vatican building constructed to accumulate more and more things. In a chirograph issued today, Leo XIV has announced a new building inside Vatican City for the Apostolic Archive and Library. The vast and growing collections have exhausted existing storage capacity. Leo XIV cites the “considerable increase” in the Holy See’s bibliographical holdings and documentary output. No budget, architect, building dimensions, construction timetable or completion date has been announced. The complex will rise in the Fontana dell’Autoparco area. Space will be divided equitably between the Archive and Library, with part reserved for other Vatican City services. The decision modifies a plan approved by Francis in 2024, which envisaged new storage in the extraterritorial Lateran area. The scale is enormous: the Apostolic Archive holds more than 600 archival fonds spanning roughly 12 centuries and over 85 km of shelving. The Library preserves around 180,000 manuscripts and archival documents …Bontsi
The Visitation nuns are preparing to leave Nevers, France, after more than four centuries. The remaining sisters are emptying their monastery. Furniture, crockery, tables, cupboards and other belongings are being sold in two “vide-couvent” sales, on September 12 and 19. The departure follows a steep decline in numbers. By early 2025 only four nuns remained. On March 15, 2025 two elderly sisters left. At the time, remaining Sister Marie-Odile stressed that this did not yet mean closure, joking that the priests’ violet vestments were “not those of a funeral.” Eighteen months later, the disposal of the convent’s contents signals the community’s approaching departure. The exact date on which the last sisters will leave has not been announced, nor has the future of the building. The Visitation Order was founded in Annecy in 1610 by St Francis de Sales and St Jane Frances de Chantal. Visitandines established a monastery in Nevers in 1620, making it one of the order’s earliest foundations. …Bontsi
Even as pope, Leo XIV uses his time to help his family with everyday problems. His brother John Prevost recently bought a new computer but could not get it to work properly. He called his brother at the Vatican, who explained step by step how to solve the problem. John also revealed that Leo XIV helped him with his tax return last year. In an interview with Italian broadcaster TG5 for Leo XIV’s 71st birthday today, John Prevost spoke about his brother’s life as pope. The brothers last met in July, when John joined Leo XIV during his summer stay at Castel Gandolfo. They spent ten days together, much of it at the papal summer residence. John said they relaxed by the pool, read books, took naps, watched television and went swimming. Leo XIV also took his relatives to several monasteries and showed them where he lives in the Vatican. Asked how Leo XIV is coping with his new role, John said his brother “hasn’t collapsed.” He described him as facing the situation with humor, strength and …Bontsi
Spaghetti and meatballs isn’t an Italian dish But Naples, we have something better: “The cuzzitiello”! It didn’t start as street food It was a habit at home, almost always on Sunday morning, while mum or nonna made the ragù, the hungriest person in the family would take the still-warm “pane cafone”, pull out the crumb, and fill that crust with sauce and meatballs That heel of bread became a bowl Today, it is one of the classics of Neapolitan street food
In the past it was food for poor families (yes, nothing of more expensive attractions like cheese or meat). But today , at the current price of bread, it ceased to be such. ETS and other EU communist regulations are forcing people to rethink their traditional cuisines. Also the diet for fast periods. For example, fish was the most popular component of the Catholic fast in Europe. But, now euro-communism made fish a luxury product. It is visible e.g. in Poland when it comes to the Christmas Eve fast dish - carp. Carp was one of the cheapest fish/meal in socialist Poland. But now, the prices - especially if you want to buy local carp not imported one, are comparable with... venison. Thus, carp, becoming quite luxurious, lost all its sense as the dish for the fast. On the other hand, the sellers still think that nevertheless people will buy the product due to the sentiment from the childhood or whatever. The similar process is happening with other species of fish, even simple herrings, …Bontsi
“JUST ONCE” CAN BECOME A PRISON: A POWERFUL WARNING TO YOUNG PEOPLE | SG News Actor, filmmaker and Catholic activist Eduardo Verástegui is drawing attention with a strong message urging young people not to experiment with drugs. His warning focuses on a decision that can initially appear harmless: trying a substance “just once.” Verástegui argues that experimentation can gradually develop into repeated use and, for some people, dependence and addiction — affecting physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships, family life and a person’s future. Modern addiction science supports the seriousness of that concern. According to the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse, repeated drug use can alter brain systems involved in reward, stress and self-control. Over time, those changes can contribute to compulsive drug use even when a person understands that the behavior is causing harm. Addiction, however, should not simply be dismissed as a lack of character or willpower. Medical experts …Bontsi
Stephen Kokx: From Integrity to Conspiracy I helped him when he was down, warned him about his editor, and walked away. Months later I became the “chaos agent” in a story he admits he cannot prove. “…Integrity can still decide what it wants to be. It can become a serious Catholic publication willing to examine modern errors while remaining governed by evidence, charity and the hierarchy of Catholic truths. Or it can become a bunker in which race, Jews, hidden power, political fatalism and factional loyalty increasingly determine who counts as a real traditional Catholic. Kokx has begun describing the latter course as the future. I think it is a dead end…” “I do not need Stephen Kokx’s permission to criticize Leo. I do not need Integrity’s permission to defend the SSPX. I do not need American Reform’s racial framework to reject Vatican II. I do not need “the Jewish question” to explain the crisis in the Church. I do not need a wealthy backer to tell me which stories matter. And I certainly …Bontsi
